USL Elementary Department conferred PAASCU Level II Accreditation

The Elementary Department of the University of Saint Louis (USL), Tugegarao City, has been granted Level II Accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Aasdasdssociation of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) on May 8, 2017.

The PAASCU Accrediting Council visited the department last Jan. 24-25, 2017. The panel was headed by Mr. Jose Ramelle Javier, Grade School Principal, La Salle Green Hills, Mandaluyong City. His fellow accreditors, who also came from PAASCU accredited schools, were: Ms. Marjorie Rañeses (Assiasdasstant Principal, Marist School, Marikina City), Dr. Abraham De Castro (IBED Principal, San Beda College-Alabang, Muntinlupa City), Ms. Gloria Melendres (Head Librarian, San Beda College-Rizal, Taytay, Rizal), Ms. Lydia Villacrusis (Former Guidance Coordinator, Assumption Antipolo, Antipolo City), and Mr. Rodelio Santos (Quality Management Representative, Claret School of Quezon City, Quezon City). Mr. Alex Gesmundo was also part of the council as the PAASCU representative.

The department had extensive preparations for the visit and on the accreditation days, the faculty and staff presented how a Level II accredited school should be.

The PAASCU team recognized the collaborative effort and spirit put into by the administrators, faculty, and staff of the department as well as the support of stakeholders. The team likewise noted the desire of the department to grow and improve and further commended its commitment to high quality of education.

The new five-year accreditation status qualifies the Elementary School program to apply for Level III accreditation by the same accrediting body.

Dr. Emily T. Mabborang, Elementary Principal, remarked that being accredited Level II by the PAASCU is a very important accomplishment for the school but must also be consistently lived up to since the higher the accreditation level, the greater is the expectation to be a bulwark of excellence in all areas of the department.
