Louisian STARS champs anew in Tugsayaw

“Most of our original dancers have graduated already that’s why most of our dancers came from the lower years. We really started from scrap,” revealed Coach Ramil Corpuz, “but we won again!”

Banking on the competitive spirit of the Louisian STARS, the University of Saint Louis-High School (USL-HS) contingent best captured the portrayal of Pavvurulun (coming together) and Afi (fire) Festival.”

Hailed as the champion of Tuguegarao City’s Pavvurulun Afi Festival 2016 Tugsayaw competition, the Louisian STARS won a total of Sixty-five thousand pesos (P65,000.00) worth of prize last August 13, 2016.

Aside from defending the champion tilt, the USL-HS group was adjudged as Best in Musicality.

The other contingent schools were: Cagayan National High School, Cataggaman National High School, FL Vargas High School, Gosi National High School, Linao National High School, Tuguegarao City Science High School, and Tuguegarao City West High School.

“All praises go to the students. I heard comments that our team was consistent in terms of energy from the showdown to the progressive category. And the overall impact was really a goose-bumps moment.”

Proud and inspired, Mr. Corpuz and his fellow coaches, Mrs. Maybelle Daquioag and Mr. Almar Melad, and the choreographer, Mr. Allan Samonte, worked hand in hand with the Lousian STARS who toiled and sacrificed for almost three weeks for their practices.

Miss Mary Ann Baquiran, the High School Principal, said of the feat, “Such victory is attributed to the commitment and determination of the participants, coaches and choreographer, and to the strong support of the USL administration, Junior High School (JHS) Executive Family Council (EFC), parents, and faculty. Thanks to everyone. To God be the glory.”

The Louisian STARS look forward to win again next year because it will bring them to the hall of fame.
