Members of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – University of Saint Louis (JPIA-USL) Chapter have once again proven prowess in research writing and presentation after notching the championship title and other ranks at the research colloquium held during the 2nd Regional Accountancy Congress (RAC), Feb.1 and 2, 2019 at the University of La Salette, Inc., Santiago City, Isabela.
The champion researchers were: Maria Thereze Aquino, Mitzi Riva Aragon, Dianne Almira Arzadon, Jerome Banera, and Guen Daluping with their research, “Usefulness of Computer Troubleshooting Skills among Certified Public Accountants.”
In second place were: Marc Francis Aleste, Perly Joy Cabaguan, Kate Alijun Calimag, Febbie Michiko Caronan, and Stephen Cordon who presented the “Academic Motivation of Select Accounting Students.”
Placing third were: Karlo Jude Acidera, Alejli Adlawan, Dianne Agatep, Jake Emannuel Aggabao, and Deann Fe Andres with the study, “Landscape of Continuing Professional Development Activities of CPAs.”
The other Louisian researchers who braved the panelists’ interrogation were Fantec Chaclag, Tiffany Dadufalza, Jamaica Eclipse, John Ortiz, and Steve Ramos; and Wendel Baliga, Venisse Capili, Carey Catindoy, Enjielyn Domingo, and Jo Lim with their respective researches: “Role of Accounting Information System in the Financial Decision Making of SMEs in Tuguegarao City” and “Compliance of SMEs in Tuguegarao City on the Bookkeeping Requirements of BIR.”
Mr. Acidera, one of the researchers, said that the research event is a great learning experience and opportunity, which enables JPIA students to present research studies before highly qualified research panelists.
“We came out of the competition not only with great experiences, but also with so much learning especially in honing our soft and technical skills,” he added.
Mr. Rommel Royce Cadapan, Ms. Karen Joy Catacutan, and Ms. Gladys Tumbali served as the researchers’ advisers.
The Regional Accountancy Congress is an activity of the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) – Region 2 to enhance its members’ competencies in contributing to the field of Accounting.
