The University of Saint Louis (USL), through the Office of the Dean of the Student Affairs and Services, commended 51 college students for their sterling achievements and exemplary performance in the school year 2019-2020 during the 2nd Gawad San Luis for Students (GSLS) on Dec. 11, 2020 streamed via YouTube and Facebook live.
Four students received awards under the GSLS for Professional Responsibility for their qualification and selection for national leadership awards and/or training/scholarship grant.
Under the GSLS for Excellence in Academics, Sports, Campus Journalism, Culture and Arts, the University acknowledged three students (individual category) and five students (group category) for their participation in different academic contests.
Five editorial staff members of The Louisian Courier, the official collegiate publication of USL, received recognition for their individual and group awards in region- and Luzon-wide press conference.
Meanwhile, the University bestowed 36 awards under the GSLS for Innovation, Creativity and Agility: group performing arts (8); group project proposal (3); individual research (1); group research (13); and group design (11).
At the live event, 16 accredited student organizations were recognized for the school year 2020-2021.
The GSLS evaluation committee, composed of two members of the extended advisory board, five middle-level managers, and three research center heads, led the whole screening and selection process. Members of the USL administration served as the University Awards Council.
Now on its second year, the event aims at recognizing college students who exude excellence in different fields as well as who uphold the core values, mission and vision of the University.
