With the theme, “Ta-NAW sa Sining at Bukas ng Arkitektura,” the United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary (UAPSA)- USL Chapter conducted in-person activities after almost two years of holding virtual events due to the COVID-19 pandemic on January 19 to 21, 2023, at the Bishop Wenceslao Padilla Learning Hall.
The event kicked off with a formal opening and ribbon-cutting of the liNAWag Exhibit led by the Architecture Program Chair, Ma. Eleanor Lucero, MaUD, UAP; headed by the UAPSA Officers.
LiNAWag Exhibit is a visual art exhibit showcasing the artworks of students in traditional, digital, and multimedia art.
The event was comprised of seminar workshops, Pinokaurofun: Team Building Activity, and UAPSAlo-Salo, an activity-ender socialization night to celebrate camaraderie and triumphs of the department both in academic and non-academic fields.
Esteemed speakers Ms. Alexandra Ashworth and Mr. Prince Wilson Macarubbo also joined the celebration and shared their expertise on filming and the history of St. Peter and Paul Metropolitan Cathedral. Moreover, Architectural Computations and Building Information Modelling (BIM) Rendering were discussed by Ar. Celine Dolotre, Ar. Camille Najora and Ar. Paul John Reyes, respectively.
Mr. Jenric Shane Dela Cruz and Mr. Jerico Turo, 4th-year BS Architecture students, shared their learning and talents in manual rendering with the architecture community; Ms. Irish Kim Palma, the youngest among the set of speakers, discussed digital rendering.
In an interview, UAPSA USL chapter president, Jazmin Pichay, extended her message of gratitude and shared that maximizing resources and fostering healthy relationships within the architecture community are significant in achieving the objectives of the celebration.
“Our ways to encourage maximum participation were made possible through available means and with the help of the architecture faculty. Choosing events was critical for us (officers) because we needed to cater to what the community wanted and also acknowledge the mission of the organization,” she said.
Despite having mishaps, Ms. Pichay was inspired by the department’s resiliency and flexibility in making the event memorable.
“Through giving them the best way to celebrate NAW and making it a chance to become a core memory to be carried forever, seeing everyone enjoying the event is the key highlight for me,” Pichay added.
The event marks the dedication of the department to providing a quality learning experience. National Architecture Week was successfully celebrated with the burning passion and hard work of the different stakeholders in their continuous pursuit of Mission and Excellence.
