Louisian ITE students and instructors presented their research papers at the International Conference on Information Technology Education 2022 (ICITE 2022), making a mark for USL and themselves in the global tech community.
Through their diligent efforts, these present and future IT professionals have shared their original capstone projects, which include innovative uses of technology in emergency situations, educational enrichment, and school system innovation, among others. As a result, all registered and presented papers will be published online with an ISSN, and quality papers will be selected for publication in a SCOPUS-indexed journal.
Centering on the welfare of Tuguegarao residents, the team of James Darrel Parallag, Kimberly Ternura, Julius Ceazar Jara, and Bob Justine Beltran created the “Rescue Alert Emergency System in Tuguegarao City;” members John Denver Melo, Alloysius Mabazza, Angelo Rosales, Carl John Tamayao, and Chenito Gil Siringan also developed the “Evacuation Assistance and Response System;” while the team of Zandrel Jol Catindoy, Raphael Vincent Cuizon, Jonathan Pasos, Gabriel Angelo Pua, and Richardson Pineda devised their project called “Enhancing Municipal Police Department Justice System Through the Development of an Online Crime and Incident Reporting System.”
Further, the project called “Development and Evaluation of Vango: An Online Van Reservation System” was developed by Graziel Louise Lynne Sorita, Faye Diane Talay, Michelle Baui, and Kathleen Jean Viernes; “School Facility Reservation System” was created by Herbert Raza, Justine Carbonel, Andrei Louis Pagalilauan, Kyle Publico, and John Patrick Macaoay; and “Jigsaw Adventures: Cagayan 2D Puzzle Educational Game” was developed by the team of Jonyl Adrian Mateo, Peejay Blas, Richmond Langcay, and Jan Lawrenz Tumaliuan.
Louisian faculty Mr. Louie Sayago also presented his research on “Green IT Practices in a University in the Northern Philippines.” The students were mentored by USL faculty members, Ms. Diane Jenalyn Datul, and Mr. Jerome Miguel.
Notably, the USL student participants were the only undergraduates to participate in the said conference and held their own alongside IT professors and experts. This serves as a further testament to the commitment and passion the students bring to the world of IT education.
Held at the MAPUA Malayan Colleges in Davao City on November 17-19, 2022, the conference served as an avenue for students, faculty researchers, and industry professionals to exchange research developments in the IT industry.
