Three members of The Louisian Courier (TLC) editorial board of the University of Saint Louis (USL) brought home victory after they notched winning places in the 17th Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC) held last Feb. 28-March 2, 2018 at Hotel Supreme, Baguio City.
The winning TLC members include Cristine Joy Castro, editor-in-chief, who topped the Copyreading and Headline Writing (English), Jerome Carlo Macanaya, head cartoonist, who placed first runner-up in Graphics Illustration (English) and Angelique Aquino, literary editor, who obtained second runner-up in Copyreading and Headline Writing (Filipino).
Moreover, TLC bagged fifth place in Best in Opinion-Editorial Page in the magazine category for its magazine issue, PLAKA: Ang Musika ng Piniping Makata.
TLC’s LHEPC qualifiers also included Kriem-Hill Benedick Siruno, senior photojournalist, and Jean Rhoi Pagunuran, senior artist.
The LHEPC is an annual gathering of campus journalists and paper advisers which involves competitions in different categories in the English and Filipino media, participated by the top five winners of the Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC) of the seven regions in Luzon.
