Tuguegarao City – With its goal of helping build a favorable research culture among basic education institutions in Luzon, the Center for Social Innovation, Local Knowledge, and Educational Research (CSILKER) of the University of Saint Louis (USL), in partnership with the USL Senior High School, conducted the 1st Luzonwide Senior High School Research Congress last March 24, 2018 at USL’s Bulwagang Teodulfo Domingo.
With the theme, “Strengthening the Culture of Research among Senior High Schools through Scholarly Works,” the research congress was participated by more than 180 senior high school teachers and students from public and private schools. Furthermore, the event was also participated by more than 100 research presenters.
Dr. Estela Cariño, Director III and officer-in-charge of the Department of Education Region 02, served as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Cariño emphasized how critical the role of research in basic education and that all students and teachers especially in the senor high school should engage in it.
She also made a commitment to help SHS teachers and students in the conduct of their researches especially in their publication and presentation locally and internationally.
The research congress consisted of 11 clusters, with the best research presenters given recognition.

The CSILKER intends to organize a national SHS research congress next school year.
