For the period 2018-2019, the University of Saint Louis (USL) received commendations from different government agencies for its efforts in empowering the community by reaching out to people who are in need of help.
Below listed were the USL programs that received recognitions.
Bloodletting Program
The Department of Health (DOH) Region 02, through the National Blood Services program of Northern Blood Services Zone, recognized the University for its involvement in spearheading bloodletting activities.
Rev. Fr. Thiago O. Silva, CICM, vice president for Mission and Identity, together with Mr. Nestor M. Cabrido, head of the Community Engagement and CICM Advocacies Office (CECAO), received the plaque of recognition during the 11th Zonal SANDUGO Recognition and Awarding last July 20, 2018 at Crown Hotel, Tuguegarao City.
Annually, the USL Bloodletting activity is in collaboration with Cagayan Valley Medical Center’s (CVMC) Northern Blood Services.
Alay Pasko Program
The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region 02 lauded USL for its advocacy and commitment towards uplifting the socio-economic plight of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) in the province of Cagayan.
The same recognition was likewise given to Rev. Fr. Renillo H. Sta. Ana, CICM, University president, and Mr. Cabrido.
Fr. Sta. Ana and Mr. Cabrido received their certificates on Dec. 18, 2018 in Lemu, Enrile, Cagayan.
The Alay Pasko Program is an annual activity of the University which aims to help identified families in USL’s partner barangays through gift-giving during Christmas season.
Collaboration with DSWD
During its 68th Anniversary Celebration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 02 commended the University for its service and commitment to the Social Welfare and Development Learning Network (SWD L-NET).
At the event, Mr. Cabrido was also recognized for his professional collaboration and participation in upholding the DSWD’s program vision-mission.
Mr. Cabrido received his certificate on Feb. 20, 2019 at Maynard’s Resort Hall, Tuguegarao City.
The SWD L-NET assigned USL to create their logo. Some chosen Architecture students of the University were tapped to come up with the design of the logo.
The CECAO head presented and explained the meaning of the logo in one of the meetings of the said learning network.
USL, together with the CECA Office, is looking forward to conducting more charity programs, community extension programs, and other missionary endeavors this forthcoming school year.
