If getting disconnected is a way to reconnect, that’s what Disconnected could send across.
Lente Likha Productions of the University of Saint Louis Senior High School (USL-SHS) showed off anew its filmmaking craft after receiving two top awards in the 3rd Manila Student Film Festival (MSFF) held at International School Manila – Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City on Feb. 1, 2020.
Disconnected, a little over four-minute short film, won the Best Film award under the age group category of 15-18. It further amassed viewers’ votes to take home the Audience Choice award, beating all other finalists in all contested age group and genre categories for the latter feat.
Set in USL, the story is about a group of Senior High students that finds frustration in completing a school work, but discovers a eureka moment after another group of students invites them to a group sport.
The film was directed and edited by Ven Gabriel Potang and written by Kathleen Orpilla.
Cinematography was by Kate Pagulayan, translation and subtitles by Carl Lucas Empedrad, and film scoring by Scott Lagmay.
Cast includes Edilbert Philip Garcia, Mitzi Managuelod, Pearl Calucag, Trisha Binondo, Karlyne Duran, Kristine Catindoy, Aileen Guiyab, Keith Escobar, Jenielyn Langcay, Xygfrid Abella, and Joseph Graham Long.
Film consultant is Mr. McKevin Romualdo, who also serves as adviser of Lente Likha Productions.
Lente Likha now has a winning streak for the MSFF Audience Choice award, as Ednis, its first film entry to the competition, won the prize in 2019.
International School Manila organizes the MSFF.
