Once again, Louisian artistic prowess is at the peak of other talents in Tuguegarao City after winning first place in the Lantern Making Competition staged by the Local Government Unit of Tuguegarao as part of its cityhood celebration, Dec.16, 2015 at the People’s Gymnasium.
USL entry was designed and crafted by third year Architecture students with the leadership of Jaylord Agdamag and Harvin Lasquero and with the support of the Supreme Student Council and the Student Affairs Office.
The design earlier emerged as winner in the lantern designing contest during the National Architecture Week celebration of the UAPSA (United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary) -USL Chapter, second week of Dec. 2015.
Made of recycled papers and boards, disposable spoons and bamboo as the bases, and accentuated by lights and paints, the parol bears a nature-and-fire theme which reflects the characteristic of Tuguegarao culture.
The parol is now part of the lantern display at the City’s Junction Tanza for everyone to see.
