Architect Mitchelle Gorospe Ignacio, an architecture graduate of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao, is making waves in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as a reputable architect.
As an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) with a decade of experience, she constantly worked on perfecting her craft and creating her legacy by being assigned as part of big projects like the Merdeka Tower, Malaysia’s highest structure and the second tallest in the world after the Burj Khalifa building in Dubai.
Apart from her contribution to the construction of the Merdeka Tower, Architect Ignacio also contributed to the successful design and construction of two completed railway projects, which are the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track project, spanning from Gemas to Johor’s capital, and the Sentral MRT Linkway in Kuala Lumpur. These accomplishments showcase her expertise in diverse infrastructure projects and her valuable contribution to Malaysia’s transportation sector.
As such, Architect Ignacio’s esteemed experience and work have earned her recognition as a reputable architect in Kuala Lumpur’s growing skyline and infrastructure. Her career story was recently featured in Inquirer and other major media platforms across the country, and she was among the Filipinos invited to a gathering with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his recent state visit.
“I feel extremely proud, not only for myself, but I feel proud that as a Filipino, we get this recognition to be part of projects as significant as the Merdeka 118 [Tower] when not all… are given such opportunity,” remarked Ar. Ignacio on her interview with the Inquirer during President Marcos’ meeting with the Filipino community at the EQ Hotel.
It’s inspiring to see Filipino talents shine on the global stage. May her story serve as an inspiration to aspiring architects, OFWs, and Filipinos everywhere.
