Louisians join roster of Cagayan’s outstanding youth leaders

Four graduates of the University of Saint Louis (USL) were named awardees of the Twenty Outstanding Youth Leaders of Cagayan (TOYLC) 2021 in a ceremony held on Feb. 26, 2021 at Casa Angela Therese Hotel and Convention Center, Tuguegarao City.

Ms. Loren Joy Q. Manuel (BS Education) placed second while Ms. Jhemarie P. Tamanu (AB Legal Management) landed on eighth place. Ms. Charmaine C. Masuli (BS Library Science) and Mr. Limuel B. Udarbe Jr. (BS Education) ranked 15th and 18th, respectively.

Meanwhile, out of the 92 nominees, four students of the University were shortlisted for the Top 40 finalists, namely: Cyd C. Danguilan (BA Political Science 1), Sharlotte A. Ferrer (BS Education 1), Peejay D. Adducul (BS Education 2), and Christopher I. Molina (BS Civil Engineering 3).

Four alumni also made the cut: Mr. Karl Leonivd S. Gannaban (AB Mass Communication), Mr. Vicente M. Zingapan Jr. (BS Hospitality and Restaurant Management), Mr. Carlo C. Lana (BS Management Accounting), and Mr. Charles M. Castillo (BS Education).

All above-mentioned students and alumni were likewise invited to attend the awarding ceremony and receive their medals and certificates as finalists.

At the event, Cagayan Vice Governor Melvin Boy Vargas and Board Member Perla C. Tumaliuan delivered their messages to the young leaders. Mr. Renz Angelo Umambong, local government operations officer of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 02, served as the event’s guest speaker.

A project spearheaded by Hon. Alniñoson Kevin Timbas, SK Provincial Federation President and Ex-Officio Board Member, along with Mr. John Mauro Manuel, coordinator of the project, the search aimed at recognizing young leaders of the province who have been engaged in leadership and community work toward concretizing transformative change through excellence and volunteerism.
