Nat’l Statistics Month banners Philippine tourism

With a theme on Philippine tourism, the University of Saint Louis’ (USL’s) celebration of the National Statistics Month was held with poster making contest using infographics, essay writing, and statistics quiz bee, Nov. 10, 2018.

USL celebrated the Statistics Month in November instead of October due to Typhoon Rosita.

The Engineering Sciences area and Louisian Math Society spearheaded the activities.

Winners in the contested events were: Jean Roi Pagunuran (poster making), Clyde Howell Pasaraba (essay writing English), Nelmarie M. Taguiam (essay writing Filipino), and Joe Harvey Calimag, Kevin Troy Matias, and Dondene Umayam (quiz bee).

“The theme ‘Exploring Philippine Wonders in Numbers: Statistics towards Sustainable Tourism Development’ reflects the relevance of statistics in achieving a sustainable and progressive tourism growth for the Philippines and emphasizes the need for statistics to identify potential tourism havens as well as areas that require intervention,” the event organizers noted.
