SMU benchmarks on USL’s ISO certification procedures

Representatives from Saint Mary’s University of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, visited the University of Saint Louis campus on October 18, 2022, to conduct a benchmarking activity on the latter’s ISO Certification acquisition.

In a program held at the Bulwagang Teodulfo Domingo, USL, represented by University officials and concerned heads of offices, shared with SMU its context diagram, ISO core team structure, documents, and the relevant experiences it had during the external audit.

SMU had requested the USL administration to conduct a benchmarking activity in its bid to obtain ISO certification. USL has recently acquired ISO 9001:2015 Certification after passing the ISO audit. It was formally recognized in a certificate awarding ceremony held on September 8, 2022.

According to the International Organization for Standardization, “ISO 9001:2015 specifies requirements for a quality management system focusing on an organization’s ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements; and to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system.”

The Saint Mary’s University team led by Dr. John Tayaban, Vice President for Administration, was welcomed by USL representatives led by Rev. Fr. Renillo H. Sta. Ana, CICM, University President and Quality Management Head, and Mrs. Luisa B. Aquino, Executive Assistant to the President for Institutional Development and Quality Assurance and USL’s Quality Management Representative.

USL and SMU are sister schools under the auspices of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
