USL affirms excellence, recognizes academic scholar

University of Saint Louis (USL), Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, conducted the Recognition Program for Academic Scholars with the theme, “Affirming excellence, shaping academic and global leaders” on August 2, 2016 at the University’s Bulwagang Teodulfo Domingo. 

A total of one hundred twenty-six (126) college scholars who manifested academic excellence during the second semester of school year 2015-2016 marched to receive their certificates of recognition.

Thirty-one (31) of the academic achievers are full academic scholars who garnered an average grade of 92% or above with no grade lower than 85%. Ninety-five (95) of them are half academic scholars obtaining an average grade of 90% or higher but not exceeding 91.99% and with no grade lower than 85%. The grades referred to were those earned during during the second semester of SY 2015-2016.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Emmanuel James P. Pattaguan, the Vice President for Academics, challenged the scholars to become academic-oriented and global leaders.

He addressed the scholars to be responsible as servant-leaders, that their call involves helping other students to cope and excel in the class scholastically.

Honey Lei N. Bagalayos, a fourth year AB Psychology student, delivered the scholar’s message while her mother, Mrs. Concepcion N. Bagalayos, gave the parents’ response.

Present to give the recognition to scholars were: Dr. Delailah B. Valencia, University President, Dr. Pattaguan, and the Academic Deans – Dr. Therese May G. Alejandrino of the School of Education, Arts and Sciences (SEAS), Dr. Dindo V. Asuncion of the School of Health and Allied Science (SHAS), Mrs. Alicia S. Tuliao of the School of Accountancy, Business and Hospitality (SABH), and Engr. Ronald M. Villaverde of the School of Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, and Information Technology Education (SEAIDITE).

Also gracing the event were Mr. Herbert S. Corpuz, Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Allan Samonte, Director of the Center for Culture and the Arts, and some teachers and non-teaching staff of the University.

Lastly, all academic scholars met to revive the Honor Circle Society of USL.
