Ednis: A Short Film by Lente Likha Productions, the University of Saint Louis Senior High School (USL-SHS) media team, landed as finalist for the Senior High School category and won the Audience Choice Award at the 2nd Manila Student Film Festival (MSFF) 2019 held at the International School Manila, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig on January 16.
The film is a story of troubled kids troubled by their past. A teacher runs down four students doing drugs in a warehouse. In doubt of them wasting their whole lives doing their vices, he delves into their past – each one having a fair share of trouble of their own. Their lives were sparked by the light of hope.
The team received an MSFF finalist laurel wreath.
For their film’s Audience Choice Award, Lente Likha shall receive an MSFF trophy. They shall also have a studio tour with GMA7, the chance of an internship for two individuals with director and writer Gino Santos, and vouchers for Urban Ashram and Power Plant Cinema.
The production team included Amiel Dean P. Quilang, director; Riel Josef A. Agustin, videography director; Justin Joel H. Ramirez, Jan Fredrich R. Arzadon, and Darren Krystian S. Dela Cruz, videographers; Lance Emmanuel F. Orlanes, editor; Patricia May I. Laggui, production designer; and Wacky Al C. Maggay, scriptwriter.
Student actors and actresses were Daniel G. Cabauatan, Darwin B. Favila, Zyrenn M. Irigayen, Emjai B. Macatuggal, Jamayca C. Orpilla, Cerene Pearl T. Quilang, Lysander Joshua T. Corpuz, and Paul Leonard D. Batang.
Mr. McKevin P. Romualdo, MOS, a USL-SHS computer teacher, served as team adviser and film consultant.
The festival judges were Jake Macapagal, Briccio Santos, Moira Lang, Haig Balian, and Arlyn Dela Cruz.
Inspired by their mission of celebrating the creativity of young filmmakers in the Philippines by providing an audience for upcoming talent and inspiring the filmmakers of tomorrow to create films now, MSFF is open to students throughout the Philippines with age groups of 8-11 (Junior/Elementary), 12-14 (Middle/High School), 15-18 (Senior/High School), and 19-21 (Further/Higher Education).
