Tuguegarao City – In compliance to pertinent guidelines of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for Graduate Education delivery for faculty and staff development in the K to 12 transition period, the Graduate School of the University of Saint Louis (USL) housed three offsite programs in SY 2017-2018, namely: the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSAc) of Saint Mary’s University (SMU), Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya and Master of Science in Pharmacy (MS Pharma) and Master of Science in Medical Technology (MS Med Tech) of Saint Louis University (SLU), Baguio City.
SMU and SLU are Delivering Higher Education Institutions (DHEIs) for the said graduate programs. Courses in each program were conducted in USL as Host Higher Education Institution (HHEI) in the Cagayan Valley Region from where the students come. Professors from the DHEIs themselves held the classes.
The Master of Science in Accountancy offered by SMU started first semester of SY 2017-2018. In the program, 12 students were enrolled of whom 11 are CHED scholars. Courses offered were Operations Audit and Advanced Financial Management and Portfolio Management (Prof. Eleanor Domingo), Practical Controllership (Prof. Venica Acosta), Current Issues in Accounting and Taxation and Managerial Accounting (Prof. Concepcion Jali-Jali), and Ethical Issues in Business and Business Philosophy (Prof. Sherween Saquing).
The Master of Science in Pharmacy offered by SLU started second semester of the SY 2016-2017 with 13 students of whom four (4) are CHED scholars. The completed courses were Biology of Disease (Prof. Mary Grace Martin), Pharmaceutical Care (Prof. Mary Luz Fiangaan), Pharmaceutical Product Development (Prof. Regina Lourdes Hipol), Advanced Clinical Pharmacy (Prof. Ana Fe Revilla), Advanced Hospital Pharmacy (Prof. Mary Grace Martin), and Methods of Research (Prof. Regina Lourdes Hipol).
Meanwhile, for the Master of Science in Medical Technology which also started in SY 2016-2017, there were five (5) students in the region of whom only one is a CHED scholar. The students finished Community Health Care Management (Prof. Ann Opina), Foundations of Clinical Laboratory Science (Prof. Janette Awisan), Quality Control in Clinical Microbiology (Prof. Allan Jay Espiritu), Advanced Virology (Prof. Jennifer Buya), and Blood Services Program (Prof. Fortune Torrecampo).
The programs will continue to be offered in USL in the next school year.
