USL officials attend AULP conference in Thailand

The University of Saint Louis’ (USL) President, Dr. Delailah B. Valencia, and the Vice-President for Academics, Dr. Emmanuel James P. Pattaguan, attended the Asian University Leaders Program (AULP) conference in Thailand last June 29-July 1, 2016.

Assumption University located in Bangsaothong, Samuthprakarn, Thailand hosted the said conference which focused on the theme: “ASEAN Integration: Challenges and Opportunities for Christian Higher Education in Asia.”

The Asian University Leaders Program (AULP) is a series of conferences for university leaders that focus on critical issues for higher education in Asia. The program is under the auspices of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA), an organization working to support Christian colleges and universities in Asia.

The conference participants discussed concerns and reflected on issues related to the ASEAN Community integration and its implications on higher education.

The participants also shared their respective good practices in dealing with the challenges and using the opportunities provided by the ASEAN Community integration.

Almost 70 school leaders and United Board fellows from Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand attended the said event.

The event also paved way for the participants to interact with one another for future collaboration between and among their respective institutions.
