Dr. Emmanuel James Pattaguan, University of Saint Louis (USL) vice president for academics, was invited as one of the international speakers during the Higher Education Leadership Program (HELP) IV which was held in Myanmar last June 26-28, 2017.

The Vice-President, together with Dr. Gail Dickinson from Texas State University, USA and Dr. Malee Kongwannit from Payap University, Thailand, shared his expertise in education on the theme, “Education for Wholeness and Transformation.”

Dr. Pattaguan presented about the topic: “Understanding the Self and the 21^st Century Learner,” emphasizing the educational demands teachers need to know in coping with the learning styles of the 21^st century learner. He also talked about Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) which he stressed as an important outcome in education in the 21^st century.

The program, which was hosted by Dagon University inYangon, Myanmar, aimed to shed insights into the educational shift in the 21^st century, and train ASEAN teachers on how to cope with the learning styles of the 21^st century learner.

The event was sponsored by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA).
