USL convenes with CHED-CBIE, Weidu for potential global academic partnerships


The University of Saint Louis recently welcomed esteemed guests from China and Canada for exploratory talks on potential international academic collaborations.

Internationalization Officer Mr. Sander T. Sedano, together with the University Communications and Multimedia Productions Director Mr. Kyle S. Espiritu and members of the Executive Advisory Board, sat down with Mr. Rudy Sabas, CHED-Canadian Bureau for International Education In-Country Consultant for the Philippines, on February 9, 2023, for an insightful conversation on CHED-CBIE’s wide range of opportunities in graduate studies in Canada, internationalization training, and international scholarship programs, among others.

CBIE is a national, non-profit, membership organization and global service provider for students and institutions with an extensive network of international education stakeholders.

On February 22, 2023, administrators of the University of Saint Louis also met with Dr. Aaron, CEO of Zhejiang Weidu Cultural Creativity Media Co., Ltd., for a discussion specifically covering the internationalization opportunities of hosting Chinese students, specifically in graduate school programs in Educational Management and Engineering Management.

Dr. Aaron, together with Ms. Katherine Delas Alas of Learning Care Consultancy, was welcomed by University President Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, with Dr. Emmanuel James P. Pattaguan, VP for Academics; Dr. Pyrene T. Quilang, Graduate School Dean; and Mr. Sander Sedano and Mr. Kyle Espiritu.

The recent visits reinforce the university’s commitment to its thrust towards internationalization amidst the increasing global academic landscape. These visits also mark an exciting opportunity to open the campus and city up to the world, which reflects USL’s strong commitment to collaborating with global institutions for the benefit of research, knowledge exchange, and higher education.
