USL honors graduates in commencement exercises


The tassel is worth the hassle! It is a proud moment for the Class of 2023 graduates of the University of Saint Louis as they walk across the stage of the James Ter Meer Gymnasium for their commencement exercises held last June.

The ceremonies were marked by an atmosphere of accomplishment and celebration as graduates received their diplomas and awards, in which they were acknowledged for their academic achievements.

USL conferred the degrees and awards on the 142 graduates from the School of Health and Allied Sciences; 96 graduates from the School of Education, Arts, and Sciences; 298 graduates from the School of Engineering, Architecture, and Information Technology Education; 454 graduates from the School of Accountancy, Business, and Hospitality; and 62 graduates from the School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Professional Development.

Further, the university also awarded 820 Senior High School graduates, comprising 142 students from the ABM strand, 98 from the HUMMS strand, 361 from the STEM-Health strand, and 219 students from the STEM-Non-Health strand, their diplomas. They were also awarded medals and certificates in recognition of their academic and non-academic achievements throughout their senior high school years.

Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., University President, led the acceptance and confirmation of the graduates and the awarding together with Rev. Fr. Rumpearl Tenkings Isaac, CICM, University Chaplain; Dr. Emmanuel James P. Pattaguan, VP for Academics; Dr. Rina M. Reyes, VP for Administration; Dr. Pyrene T. Quilang, SGSCPD Dean; Mrs. Alicia S. Tuliao, SABH Dean; Dr. Dindo V. Asuncion, SHAS Dean; Dr. Herbert S. Corpuz, SEAS Dean; Engr. Victor C. Villaluz, SEAITE Dean; Mrs. Claire T. Gumarang, SHS Principal; Ms. Mary Ann A. Baquiran, JHS Principal; Dr. Emily T. Mabborang, Elementary Principal; and USL faculty and staff.

USL also featured the Louisian board topnotchers for the school year 2022-2023 for their exemplary performance in their respective licensure examinations, awarding plaques and cash incentives of ₱50,000 each as a token of recognition.

Previously, four (4) Louisian graduates delivered remarkable results in four different national licensure examinations held during the current school year. Alyanna Mari Beran Ochoa topped not only one but two examinations, landing in eighth (8th) place in the October 2022 Electronics Engineer Licensure Examination and third (3rd) place in the Electronics Technician Licensure Examination with a rating of 87.10% and 87%, respectively.

Aaron Ed Joseph Cabaddu Acuña garnered the tenth (10th) spot with an average of 88.5% during the September 2022 Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination; Cielo Rose Jainal Lim ranked sixth (6th) place with a rating of 90.40% in the May 2023 Nurse Licensure Examination; and Jaren Dave Durian Cornelio took the ninth (9th) spot with a rating of 83.10% in the June 2023 Architecture Licensure Examination.

The commencement exercises served as a testament to the academic excellence and rigor of the institution, as well as the bright future ahead for its graduates. Congratulations, Class of 2023, and hats off to the parents, faculty, administration, and staff who have nurtured these young minds!
