USL-SHS culminates English Month celebration in Disney fashion; Kingdom of Arendelle hailed Overall Champion


USL’s Senior High School culminated its Disney-themed English Month Celebration, with the theme “De-League-gate as One: Blazoning an Adept Winter Matched with Enchantment and Creative Concepts,” at the James Ter Meer Gymnasium, on December 9, 2022.

The Kingdom of Arendelle (Frozen) emerged as the overall champion of the event after amassing a total of 170 points. The Kingdom of Neverland (Pirate Fairies) came in second place with 126 points.

Running up was the Kingdom of Moorland (Maleficent), with 120 points in third place, and the Kingdom of DunBroch (Brave), with 88 total points, in fourth place.

The program was formally started with an opening prayer led by The English League PIO, Jhyro Messiah Pe. Ms. Lovely Joy Ruiz, English Area Coordinator, gave her opening remarks, followed by the presentation of judges and general guidelines by Ms. Khaye Gannaban.

During the closing ceremony, winners of the Disney Character Parade and SHS Ambassadors and Ambassadresses were announced.

Mr. Zephyr Achilles Gaspar, from the Kingdom of Neverland, and Ms. Sherna Mae Lagua, from the Kingdom of Moorland, were crowned as the SHS Ambassador and Ambassadress 2022, respectively.

Gaspar and Lagua were also titled as Mr. and Ms. Wit, correspondingly, after showcasing confidence in the panel interview conducted last December 1.

The new SHS Ambassador and Ambassadress will be representing the department in the 58th Founding Anniversary of USL, on February 8-10, 2023.

Ambassador Isaac Basan, of the Kingdom of Moorland, and Ambassadress Zshairee Herrera, from the Kingdom of DunBroch, were hailed as Mr. and Ms. Excellence.

Second Runners-up Ambassador Renz Rohann Malana, from the Kingdom of DunBroch, and Ambassadress Christi Giovanne Cabubas, of the Kingdom of Arendelle, were Mr. and Ms. Peace 2022.

Ambassador Joseph Marco Solano, representing the Kingdom of Arendelle, and Ambassadress Shyla Novel Abana, from the Kingdom of Neverland, were hailed as Mr. and Ms. Amity.

Team Maleficent (Moorland) won the Best Digital Poster. Moreover, the Kingdom of DunBroch bagged the People’s Choice Award for the most reacted digital poster. The Best Advocacy Plan prize was given to Mr. Renz Rohann Malana and Ms. Sherna Mae Lagua.

The SHS Ambassador and Ambassadress competition was judged by Mr. Norman Ulep, Sports Coordinator; KitKat Keicee Reyes, MBA, SSG Adviser; Darwin Dumlao, MST, Research Area Coordinator; Jinky Galiza, MST, Social Sciences Area Coordinator; and Mr. Nestor Mallillin, CECA Coordinator.

Ms. Dhenisse Loisse Z. Pagunuran, who dressed up as Queen Iduna from the hit Disney film series, Frozen, was recognized as the “Darling of the Crowd.” Furthermore, her team, Frozen, was given the Most Enchanting Kingdom award. The Kingdom of Moorland delivered and won the Most Iconic Kingdom Introduction.

The ceremony was hosted by Mr. Rhen Rhed Santos, The English League Auditor, and Ms. Mariane Joy Petre, SHS Ambassador’s Secretary.

Performances by the ASUL Gem, English Area teachers, and officers of The English League and SHS Ambassadors entertained the spectators with a mix of hip-hop and Zumba dances, as well as several hit Disney movie tracks, like A Whole New World, Into the Unknown, Remember Me, and Reflection.
